Located in Banjar Sengkiding, Aan Village, Banjarangkan District, Klungkung Regency, Celek-Celek Waterfall is one of Bali’s hidden natural wonders that offers not only stunning views but also a rich cultural heritage.
This 30-meter high waterfall lies along Tukad Bubuh River and remains one of the few destinations in Bali that blends pristine nature with local history.
The Meaning Behind the Name “Celek-Celek”
What sets Celek-Celek Waterfall apart is its unique historical background.
In ancient times, this waterfall served as a crossing route between Aan Village and Nyalian Village.
Villagers used to climb the 30-meter cliff beside the waterfall by gripping specially carved crevices in the rock.
In the Balinese language, the act of inserting one’s fingers into narrow cracks for climbing is referred to as nyelek tebing, which inspired the name “Celek-Celek.”
Development and Accessibility
The development of Celek-Celek Waterfall as a tourist destination began in late 2021.
It is now part of an integrated tourism area with Museum Sukanta Wahyu, which is also located in Banjar Sengkiding.
This makes it an ideal spot for those seeking a blend of eco-tourism and cultural exploration.
To reach the waterfall, visitors only need to walk about 200 meters from the Sukanta Wahyu Museum, followed by a descent of approximately 50 steps.
Alternatively, it can be accessed from the west side of Balai Banjar Sengkiding, providing multiple entry options for visitors.
