Savoring the Spice of a Legend, Warung Sate Plecing Arjuna, a Culinary Icon in Bali

Amidst the hustle and bustle of Denpasar lies a humble eatery that has become a culinary legend since 1990: Warung Sate Plecing Arjuna. Founded by the couple Tjo Hok Tjiang and Tjwie Giok, this warung has captured the hearts of food lovers with its timeless and distinctive flavor.

Warung Sate Plecing Arjuna is located on Jalan Arjuna No. 47, Dauh Puri Kaja, North Denpasar, Bali. From the city center, it takes around 10–15 minutes by motor vehicle. If you’re coming from Ngurah Rai International Airport, the trip takes about 45 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

The signature dish here is sate plecing, available in pork, chicken, goat, and bone marrow varieties. Unlike typical satay that comes with peanut sauce, the satay at this warung is served with a special Balinese sambal plecing made of chili, garlic, candlenut, shrimp paste, and a splash of kaffir lime juice—resulting in a spicy, savory, and refreshing taste.

Prices are quite affordable, ranging from Rp20,000 to Rp25,000 per portion. The warung also offers other dishes such as beef soup, meatballs, and steamed rice at reasonable prices.

The warung offers a simple yet cozy atmosphere, with enough seating space to accommodate numerous guests. The satay is still grilled over charcoal, preserving its authentic flavor. The distinctive plecing sauce and customizable level of spiciness enhance the dining experience.

Warung Sate Plecing Arjuna is open daily from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM (WITA), making it convenient for both lunch and dinner visits.

If you’re looking for an authentic culinary experience with bold Balinese flavors, Warung Sate Plecing Arjuna is a must-visit destination. With its affordable prices, mouth-watering dishes, and warm atmosphere, this warung deserves a spot on your food adventure list in Bali. (TB)
