Legends say that the Kayu Putih Tree plays a protective role in Desa Tua. Beneath its vast roots, villagers often hear faint sounds of gamelan music, especially during sacred days in the Hindu calendar.
This mystical phenomenon has led to the belief that ancient gamelan instruments, possibly remnants of wartime artifacts, are buried beneath the tree. Some even claim that its roots extend beneath the entire village, symbolizing its role as a guardian of the land.
