Escaping to Nature, Soaking in Espa Yeh Panes, Penatahan, Tabanan

Sometimes, what we truly need isn’t a trendy café or a crowded tourist spot. It’s a quiet, natural place where your body and mind can fully relax. That’s exactly what I found at Espa Yeh Panes, a hidden hot spring in Penatahan, Tabanan, Bali.

The journey there was pleasant. It took me around 1.5 hours from Denpasar, driving through winding roads with views of rice fields and gentle hills along the way. It’s a bit off the beaten path, but once you arrive, the peaceful atmosphere makes it all worthwhile.

So how’s the vibe? Cool air. Lush greenery. Pure serenity. The hot spring pools overlook the Yeh Ho River, with the calming sound of water flowing nearby. In the distance, you can see terraced rice paddies and tropical forest—like a natural spa untouched by the crowd.

There are several pool options. I started with the large public pool—just the right temperature, not too hot, and perfect for a long soak. Down near the river, there’s a smaller, quieter pool. If you’re looking for more privacy, Espa Yeh Panes also offers private pools and jacuzzi-style baths you can rent by the hour. It feels like having your own little spa retreat!

Entrance to the public pool is only Rp15,000 (for local visitors). Super affordable! Private pools start from Rp25,000 per hour, and the jacuzzi option is around Rp40,000. Totally worth it—especially if you’re visiting with your partner or family.

Facilities are simple but adequate: clean changing rooms, a small food stall, and a decent parking area. I’d recommend bringing your own towel, a change of clothes, and drinking water for comfort. Also, please note that soap and shampoo are not allowed in the pools—to keep the natural water clean and safe.

Espa Yeh Panes is open daily, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and until 8:00 PM on weekends. If you’re planning a visit during major Balinese holidays like Nyepi or Galungan, double-check beforehand, as they may be closed on those days.

In short, Espa Yeh Panes isn’t just a place to soak—it’s a little escape from the daily grind. A place to reconnect with nature in Bali’s quieter corners. If you’re feeling burnt out, stressed, or just want a natural spa experience that’s affordable yet memorable, this place definitely deserves a spot on your travel list. (TB)
